The past two weeks have just zoomed by, and this time, I really couldn’t keep reading at the same level as I usually do.
I hosted a neighborhood Easter egg hunt at our local urban farm. After tons of work, thirty-five kids had so much fun. And frankly, I had the best time ever being a kid myself for an hour.
And then it just didn’t stop from there. I’m still going a hundred miles an hour and hopefully there will be a slow down soon. But it’s not happening right now. This weekend, I get to run a half marathon which will likely keep me exhausted for the rest of the weekend. Except I have a toddler with lots of activities, so it’s going to be fun trying to keep up. Life was so much simpler when I could run a race and then come home to just relax. But life is way better now.
Reading Social Media News
Ads are finally hitting Threads. I love Threads, despite the absolute insanity of it. But I always knew this was coming. I think if you try to do ads on Threads like you do on Facebook, you will fail. Threads is a beast of its own. I wonder how successful ads will be on Threads. My feeling is that it might end up being like Twitter: not all that effective. Basically, if you don’t have a huge ads budget, it’s likely a skip, especially as these ads get going. Put your ad money towards what is known to be effective for the time being.
Meta is getting fined… again. There are a lot of interesting things that could happen here. The latest update is that the US government is willing to stick up for Meta, at least with words. We’ll see if that leads to any actions. It’s likely that not much will change with how Meta uses data in the US, but I like to keep an eye on things like this, especially because clients do advertise in European countries. So it’s time to sit back and watch how this develops.
Reading Books, Books and More Books
Past
You’re a Mean One Matthew Prince by Timothy Janovsky was not written for me. I’m not a big fan of Hallmark movies. I’m not a member of the LGBTQ+ community. It’s written for someone who loves a good romance. I’m just meh on romance. So I got through this book (so slowly) and took what I could from it. It was quirky and gave you everything you could want from this kind of genre. And that’s about it. There’s nothing wrong with it at all, except it’s not what I wanted. Score: B-

For May’s book club, I decided I was picking a book. I gave the other members three books, and they settled on A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. I am so excited to dive into this world again and to experience all the joy it finds in life, even a life lived within a hotel. It’s a book I speak about with great love for a reason. And I think it’s the perfect antidote for all that’s wrong in the world right now.
What are you reading? What books are you looking forward to?
