I feel like time is just trucking on faster and faster. It’s a wonder that I’m reading anything at this point.
So many plans and looking forward to the future. And then suddenly, the future is here, and it feels like I can’t even enjoy it. It’s just more plans and more futures to look forward to. This may be part of being a parent or this just might be life. I’m not sure. But I would like life to slow down for just a minute so I could breathe it in and relish it more. Instead, I’m left with this feeling that time is slipping through my fingers faster and faster.
The funny thing is that the more I have this feeling, the more I want to relive those things I have truly loved. We’ve spent a significant amount of time redoing activities and re-reading books over the past few weeks. And I have no regrets doing that. I think it’s been giving me a little time to savor the little bit that I can. And maybe I need to figure out how to experience new things in this same way I am experiencing well-loved things.
Aw well. Something to chew on for later. Until then, let’s check out what I am reading this week.
Reading Social Media News
Meta is developing a search engine to power its AI. This is probably the least surprising news in the world. I’m not holding out a lot of hope for this one, because search on Facebook, Instagram and Threads has always left a lot to be desired. But it is interesting. I’ve been saying for years that you need to make sure you do keyword research for social media posts and use those keywords. I finally have something that backs that up.
I love seeing how other people approach their work, and so I was excited to see this collection of writing tips from PR Daily. Writing is something we should all strive to be better at, so this is a great chance to learn and see what might work for you. Because of course we’re all different, so not everything fits for every single person.
Reading Books, Books and More Books
Past
I said The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab was like an old sweater that I love to pull on every now and then. And those are definitely the feelings I am getting from it right now. I remember those big far swept lines, but I was a bit more fuzzy on the details than I thought. But no worries. The book happily filled those in as we went. It was the exact journey I needed to be on at this point, and I look forward to exploring this world again and again in the years to come. Score: A+
Present
The Mighty Red by Louise Erdrich is this month’s book club pick. I’m going to be honest: I’m looking at my library with longing for my old sweater books. I want that kind of comfort. But I’m keeping an open mind and hopefully it’s the book that kicks me back into the world of new fiction again. We shall see.
What are you reading? What books are you looking forward to?
